The deadlock in the Lok Sabha is not ending. After the uproar in the House, the Lok Sabha Speaker adjourned the proceedings of the House. Meanwhile, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor alleged that the Central Government and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla are not interested in running the House. He said that due to repeated uproar in the Lok Sabha, he could not speak on the Union Budget 2026-27.

In the Parliament complex, Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram Shashi Tharoor asked in a questioning tone that what do the Lok Sabha Speaker and the government want? He said that Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi should be allowed to express his views and it is very strange for one party to be deprived of the right to speak in the House.
He said, ‘The situation is very strange. I don’t know whether the Speaker or the government wants discussion on the budget in the House or not. There is an old tradition of more than 70 years of the House that first the Leader of the Opposition and then the Parliamentary Affairs Minister is given the opportunity to speak.
Rahul Gandhi met Lok Sabha Speaker
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla along with some other opposition leaders on Monday (9 February 2026). Congress MP Rahul Gandhi informed the Lok Sabha Speaker about the issues he wants to raise in the House. This meeting lasted only a few minutes. According to the report of news agency PTI, eight Congress MPs want to raise the issue of suspension and other issues related to Parliament, including allegations made against women MPs.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee, DMK leader T.R. along with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi during his meeting with the Lok Sabha Speaker. Baalu and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav were also present. Opposition leaders urged the Speaker to revoke the suspension of eight opposition MPs of the Lok Sabha to end the deadlock.
