The Modi government at the Center has issued guidelines regarding Vande Mataram on Wednesday (11 February). According to the new instructions, now it will be mandatory to play Vande Mataram in government programs, schools and many important events and all people will have to stand up and respect it. Just as the national anthem is sung during Jana Gana Mana, now politics has started afresh regarding it. Muslim leaders are objecting to this.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Arshad Madani posted on Twitter on Thursday that making Vande Mataram as the national song mandatory in all its lines in all government programs, schools, colleges and events is not only a biased and forced decision, but it is also an open attack on religious freedom given in the Constitution and a condemnable attempt to snatch away the rights of minorities.
The Central Government’s unilateral and coercive decision to make “Vande Mataram” the national song and to mandate all its stanzas in all government programs, schools, colleges, and functions is not only a blatant attack on the freedom of religion guaranteed by the Constitution…

Told how the Constitution is being violated
Arshad Madani said that Muslims do not stop anyone from reciting Vande Mataram or playing its tune, but because some of its lines are based on polytheistic faith and present the motherland as God, which conflicts with the faith of monotheistic religion, therefore forcing a Muslim who worships only one Allah to read it is a clear violation of Article 25 of the Constitution and the decisions of the Supreme Court.
‘Muslim worships only Allah’
Taking aim at the government, Madani said that making this song mandatory today and trying to impose it on citizens is not actually patriotism, but electoral politics, communal agenda and a deliberate ploy to divert public attention from the core problems. The basis of love for the motherland is not slogans, but character and sacrifice, a bright example of which is the unprecedented struggle of Muslims and Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind. Such decisions weaken the peace, unity and democratic values of the country and are also a violation of the Constitution.
He further said that remember! A Muslim worships only one Allah. We can tolerate everything, but we can never accept associating anyone with Allah. Therefore making Vande Mataram mandatory is an open attack on the soul of the Constitution, religious freedom and democratic values.
