Once again a new twist has come in the famous mother-in-law-son-in-law love story of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. The woman who left home with her future son-in-law about ten months ago is now surrounded by allegations of eloping with her own brother-in-law. The matter gained momentum when son-in-law Rahul reached the Senior Superintendent of Police office and demanded strict action against the woman.
On the other hand, woman Anita Devi has also opened a front and filed a complaint in Dado police station making serious allegations against Rahul. Amidst the allegations and counter-allegations of both the parties, this matter has now become a tangled web of allegations of love, betrayal, torture and superstition. Rahul alleged that Anita Devi along with her brother-in-law had absconded from the house with jewelery and cash. According to him, this is Anita’s nature and now he is repenting.
What is the whole matter?
The latest episode of the incident is said to be related to 6 February 2026. On February 11, Rahul’s son Horilal gave a written complaint at Dado police station that his girlfriend Anita Devi had absconded from home with her brother-in-law Devendra. Rahul alleges that she also took with her about Rs 2 lakh in cash, a Mangalsutra and two rings. Rahul says that he and Anita were living like husband and wife for the last ten months in Bela police station area of Sitamarhi district of Bihar.
According to Rahul, on the morning of 6th February, he had gone out for hawking as usual. He left the house around 8:30 in the morning and around 9 o’clock Anita left the house with her brother-in-law Devendra. Rahul claims that this is not the first time that Anita has taken such a step. He alleged that Anita had been breaking relationships before and forming new ones and now she had gone to live with a third person.
appealed to the police
Accusing the local police of slow action, Rahul also appealed to the SSP office. He accused Anita Devi, her brother-in-law Devendra and other family members of conspiring. Rahul says that he was systematically implicated. He even alleged that Vashikaran was done on him, amulets were worn on him and he was kept under their influence through Ganda Tantra.
Rahul claims that Anita and her family mentally confused him and made away with his jewelery and even his mobile phone. He says that when he realized the truth, he started protesting, after which Anita ran away with her brother-in-law.
Anita Devi’s counterattack
The other side of the matter is no less shocking. Anita Devi reached Dado police station and made serious allegations against Rahul. Anita says that she made the biggest mistake of her life by getting influenced by Rahul’s words. According to him, his daughter’s marriage was fixed in April 2025. The marriage was to take place on 16th April, but ten days before that on 6th April, Rahul took her with him. Anita says that she was trapped in emotional pressure and false promises.
Both of them returned on 17 April 2025 and decided to live together in the presence of the police. But Anita alleges that she was treated inhumanely while living in Bihar. He was held captive, tortured and denied contact with his family. Anita claims that she somehow escaped from there and reached Aligarh. She said that if she had not been tortured, she would never have left Rahul. Now she regrets her decision and wants to live a normal life.
The matter was in the headlines
This matter was also in the news last year when a mother-in-law had eloped with her own daughter’s future husband. Even at that time, there was a huge discussion about this relationship in the family and society. After police mediation, both of them decided to live together. But now the allegations of absconding with her brother-in-law have given a new twist to the story. Local people say that this case is not just a love affair but is becoming an example of family breakdown and social disintegration.
On one hand Rahul is calling himself cheated, while on the other hand Anita is presenting herself as a tortured woman. Aligarh Police has claimed on the entire matter that complaints have been received from both the parties in the entire matter, action will be taken after investigation.
