Stock Market Today: The first trading day of the week in the Indian stock market, Monday, February 23, had a positive start. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 opened trading in the green.
The 30-share BSE Sensex index jumped 92.12 points or 0.11 percent. Sensex started the day at the level of 82,906.83. At the same time, a rise is also being seen in NSE Nifty 50. Nifty 50 jumped 107.15 points or 0.42 percent and opened at the level of 25,678.40.
By around 9:20 am, the Sensex was trading at 83,261 points, up by 446 points. Whereas Nifty 50 had jumped 129 points and was trading at the level of 25,701.
BSE’s top gainers and losers
Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, Adani Port, Reliance and Bajaj Finance were the top gainers from the BSE basket. Talking about the top losers, Indigo, Bajaj Finserv, Asian Paint and HCL Tech were among them.
How was the market on Friday?
There was a rise in the Indian stock market on the trading day of Friday, February 20. Major benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 ended the day trading in the green. The Sensex closed at 82,814.71 points with a rise of 316.57 points or 0.38 percent, while the NSE Nifty 50 closed at the level of 25,571.25 with a rise of 116.90 points or 0.46 percent.
NTPC, L&T, Bajaj Finance, Tata Steel and PowerGrid were the top gainers from the BSE basket. Talking about the top losers, they were Tech Mahindra, Eternal, HCL Tech, Bharti Airtel and Mahindra & Mahindra.
There was a rise in the shares of Nifty 100, Nifty Bank, Nifty FMCG, Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Auto. There was a decline in Nifty IT and Nifty Smallcap 100 shares. On Friday’s trading day, 21 shares from BSE basket closed in the green and 9 shares recorded a decline.
