Hydrogen Train: The trial of the first hydrogen train in the country has been successful and now preparations to bring it into regular service have intensified. The year 2026 is going to bring a big technological change for Indian Railways. For the first time, such a train will hit the tracks which will neither run on diesel nor depend on conventional electricity. Rather it will run on hydrogen. The route of this train has also been decided and if we talk about the fare, it is also going to be very low. Due to which common passengers will get immense relief. Know how much less its fare will be.
First train will run on this route
This hydrogen powered train was run between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana. This route of about 90 kilometers has become the first such line in the country. Where this new technology was tested… Yesterday i.e. on 25th February, the country’s first hydrogen powered trial run was conducted on this route. Now regular hydrogen will soon be seen running on this route.
This will be the speed of the hydrogen train
The biggest feature of this train is that it will not emit smoke and the noise will also be very less. It works on electrochemical technology. In which energy is generated from hydrogen fuel cell. It will be run on hydrogen prepared from about 9 kg of water.
Its design speed is 150 km per hour. Whereas during operation it can run at a speed of 110 to 140 km per hour. Its direct benefit will be that the journey from Jind to Sonipat, which currently takes about 2 hours, will be reduced. That may come down to less than 1 hour.
The fare will be very low
Most of the discussion on this route is about fare. The fare for a journey of 90 kilometers between Jind and Sonipat can be kept at just Rs 5 to Rs 25. In today’s time, where the pressure on the pocket increases in the name of better facilities or faster speed. Such low fare there can prove to be a big relief for common passengers. The special thing is that despite it being a train with green technology, the ticket will not be expensive.
Passengers will get these facilities
This train is not new only in terms of fuel. But it is also an upgrade in terms of features. It will have 8 passenger coaches, which will have facilities like automatic doors, air conditioning, digital display and modern interior.
