Madhya Pradesh Police has taken major action in the case of video of firing cannon from the historical fort in Raisen and raising slogans in support of Iran going viral. In this case, the Kotwali police has arrested 4 accused for hurting religious sentiments. After the video of the incident went viral on social media, the administration and police have started action.
What is the whole matter?
The video of some youth firing cannon from Raisen Fort went viral on Instagram. In the video, youth are heard raising slogans and talking about support for Iran. It was told that this video was made at the time of giving information about breaking of fast during Ramzan.
Hindu organization ‘Apna Raisen’ lodged a complaint with the Kotwali police. The complaint said that some slogans raised in the video are objectionable, which has hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu community. The organization expressed apprehension that this could deteriorate social harmony in the city and create a situation of tension.
Police took action
On the basis of the complaint of the complainant, a case was registered under section 196(1)(a) BNS under crime number XX/26 at Kotwali Raisen police station. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the police took immediate action and arrested four people including the main accused.
The arrested accused include Shadab Qureshi, father Shaheer Qureshi, resident of Kasai Mohalla Raisen, Yusuf Sheikh, father Mehfooz Sheikh, resident of Chataipura Bhopal, Wasim Mohammad, father Ibrahim Khan, resident of Aishbagh Bhopal and Pappu alias Salman Qureshi, father Salim Qureshi, resident of Talaiya Bhopal. Police is interrogating the accused and the search for other people involved in the case is also going on.
Human Rights Commission also took cognizance
After the video surfaced, National Human Rights Commission member Priyank Kanungo raised questions on this matter through social media. He said that people’s lives have been put in danger by illegally firing cannon from the fort protected by the Archaeological Department.
He said that such action not only endangers the safety of common citizens but can also cause damage to historical and archaeological heritage. While sending a notice to the administration and the police, he also said that action should be taken against the charges like making illegal weapons, using ammunition and spreading terror.
On the matter, Raisen Tehsildar Bharat Mandre said that after getting information about the video, the police has been informed. He said that the matter is being investigated and whatever legal action is required will be taken.
