Rajasthan Royals (RR) won by 8 wickets against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 on Monday. Left arm fast bowler Nandre Berger was chosen as the ‘Player of the Match’, who took 2 wickets for 26 runs in 4 overs.
After being named ‘Player of the Match’ after the spectacular win, Nandre Berger said, “First of all, thank God. It feels great to contribute to the team’s victory and get off to a good start.”
Nandre Burger bowled Sanju Samson (6) on the last ball of the second over. After this he got Ayush Mhatre (0) caught out by Dhruv Jurel. After losing 3 wickets till the score of 19, Chennai Super Kings were reduced to just 127 runs in 19.4 overs. In response, Rajasthan Royals won the match with 8 wickets remaining in 12.1 overs.
Nandre Berger said, “Seeing big scores in previous matches, you prepare yourself for big targets, so winning the toss and bowling first was very important for us and that gave us a strong start. The plan is always to get every batsman out. I can’t say that I thought of bowling the same ball to Sanju Samson, it just happened. You can call it a natural variation, but overall the plan was to keep the exact line and put the batsmen in the same areas. Forced to play the shots we wanted, glad it went in my favor today.”
Regarding the atmosphere in the dressing room, Nandre Berger said, “The atmosphere in the dressing room is the same as before. There are some new players and changes, like the coach and the captain, but there is great energy in the team, everyone is happy. Hopefully this is a positive start and we will continue this trend further.”
