Raghav Chadha News: Kejriwal kept watching, the party got looted, 7 MPs will join BJP, these are the 5 reasons for the breakup.

Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has announced to leave the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) along with two other MPs in a press conference on Friday (24 April 2026). Along with him, Rajya Sabha MPs Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal have also separated from AAP. Along with this, all three leaders have announced to join BJP. This is the biggest break in the Aam Aadmi Party so far. Raghav Chadha and Sandeep Pathak told why they were disillusioned with AAP.

primary reason: AAP MP Raghav Chadha made serious allegations on the decision to leave the party and said that AAP has completely deviated from its basic principles. He said that the AAP, which I nourished with my blood for 15 years, has deviated from its path. Now it is not working for the national interest but for its personal benefits. Since the inception of AAP, Raghav Chadha was often seen with Arvind Kejriwal on every major occasion.

Second reason: According to Raghav Chadha, the party has now started ignoring the hardworking workers. He said, all the leaders had worked hard together to expand the party to Delhi, Punjab and other states, but now the situation has changed. I am going away from you and coming to the public. Chadha praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his decision to join BJP.

Third reason: During the press conference, Raghav Chadha said that he is impressed by the work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, ‘In the last 12 years, the Central Government has taken many such decisions, which many leaders were afraid of taking. The public has approved this leadership thrice and now we too will work for the country under the same leadership. Raghav Chadha further said that AAP has 10 MPs in Rajya Sabha and more than two-thirds of the MPs are with us in this campaign. He has already signed, and this morning we have handed over all the necessary documents, including the signed letter and other formal papers, to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.

Fourth reason: Raghav Chadha said that for some time he was feeling that he was the right person in the wrong party. For this reason he has decided to separate from the party. Sandeep Pathak said, ‘I never thought in my life that such a time would come, but today that situation is in front. Today I announce the end of all my relations with the Aam Aadmi Party.

Fifth reason: The way efforts were being made to isolate Raghav Chadha in the party for the last few months, it had become clear that in the coming times, Arvind Kejriwal and his party are sure to get a ‘hard blow, very strong’. At present he is a Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab and he is holding this post since April 2022. However, recently he was removed from the post of Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha by the party. Since then it was believed that Raghav Chadha could soon explore new paths in his political journey.

These MPs including Raghav Chadha will join BJP

The seven MPs who left AAP are Raghav Chadha, Swati Maliwal, Harbhajan Singh, Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Mittal, Rajinder Gupta, Vikram Sahni. At the age of 24, he helped draft the Lokpal Bill under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal in 2012. He continued to advocate the party and organization on TV and soon became a well-known face of the party. Raghav Chadha became the youngest national spokesperson among Indian political parties.
