Why did Iran hang so many people?
According to Al Jazeera, the UN said that at least nine people have been sentenced to death in connection with the protests that have rocked Iran in January 2026 since the war began following US and Israeli attacks in late February.
At the same time, 10 other people have been given death sentence for being alleged members of opposition groups and two people have been given death sentence for espionage. At the same time, more than 4 thousand people have been arrested on national security grounds.

UN Chief appealed, said- stop death sentences immediately

I appeal to the authorities to stop all further death sentences. Ban the death penalty. Ensure guarantee of legal process and fair trial. Also release those arbitrarily arrested.
