To make this Khichdi, you will need half cup of millet, one fourth cup of jowar, one fourth cup of ragi but this is optional i.e. if you want, you can use it in the ingredients of Khichdi. After that, add half a cup of washed moong dal, one small finely chopped onion, one finely chopped tomato, one small chopped carrot, one fourth green pea, one teaspoon cumin, one teaspoon grated ginger, half teaspoon turmeric, half teaspoon coriander powder, half teaspoon red chili powder, you can also add this as per taste. Desi ghee, four to five cups of water, and green coriander, but coriander should be used after making Khichdi to sprinkle it on top because children often like decorated things.

Make Khichdi like this:

First of all take millet and then wash jowar and moong dal thoroughly and soak them for 4 to 5 hours. After this, heat desi ghee in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds and crackle. Now add ginger and onion and fry until light golden. After this add tomatoes, carrots and peas and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Now add turmeric, coriander powder, red chilli and salt and mix well. Then add soaked coarse grains and moong dal and fry lightly for 2 minutes. Once it is roasted, add 4 to 5 cups of water, close the lid of the cooker and cook on medium flame till 5 to 6 whistles. After the pressure is released, stir the khichdi well. If Khichdi seems too thick then you can thin it as per your choice by adding some hot water. Finally add one spoon desi ghee and green coriander on top. It can be served hot to children with curd, pickle or papad.
