US President Donald Trump China Visit: US President Donald Trump met Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday (May 14, 2026) during his two-day visit to Beijing. During this meeting, President Trump and Jinping discussed the Iran war and the ongoing conflict and tension in the Strait of Hormuz.

After this conversation, America’s White House has claimed that both America and China have agreed to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, so that there can be free flow of energy in the global market. Apart from this, both the countries have also agreed that Iran should not have nuclear weapons.

What did the White House say on the meeting between Trump and Jinping?

After the bilateral meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, a statement was issued by the White House on the social media platform X. In the statement, the White House said, ‘US President Trump had a good meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The two sides discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation with each other, including greater access to the Chinese market for American companies and increasing Chinese investment in our industries.

The White House said, ‘Heads of several large American companies also participated in a part of the meeting. The two Presidents also emphasized the need to build on progress made in stemming the flow of fentanyl precursors into the United States. Also discussed was to increase the purchase of American agricultural products from China.

White House’s claim regarding Strait of Hormuz

On the discussion regarding Iran war and Strait of Hormuz during the meeting of President Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, the White House said, ‘Both the US and China have agreed that the Strait of Hormuz should remain open to maintain uninterrupted supply of energy. President Xi Jinping also made it clear that China opposes the militarization of the Strait of Hormuz and any attempt to impose any kind of fee for its use.

The White House said, ‘President Jinping has also expressed his desire to buy large amounts of American oil in the future to reduce China’s dependence on this important sea route. Apart from this, both the countries have also agreed that Iran can never acquire nuclear weapons.
