Virat Kohli now plays only ODI in international cricket, he has retired from T20 and Test. There is often discussion about him whether he will play in the 2027 ODI World Cup? Kohli himself’s reaction has come to light on this. Without taking anyone’s name, he said that if he has to prove his worth, if he is made to feel like this, then I will not stay at that place. Let us tell you that some time ago news came that BCCI has told senior players that if they want to play in the national team, they will have to play domestic also. Kohli also told in this interview why he played in Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Virat Kohli said these things in an interview with Mayanti Langer on the YouTube channel of Royal Challengers Bangalore. When he was asked what phase of his career he is going through right now? So he said, “I have reached a stage where I have learned that you make records, play good innings but tomorrow you have to start again. You set a target and you think if you reach there then everything will be fine, but when you achieve it then you know that it is not over.”
When Mayanti asked him about the debate on whether to play in the 2027 World Cup or not, he said, “My view is clear. If I can contribute to the environment I am a part of, then I will definitely be recognised. But if I am made to feel that I have to prove my worth and importance, then I will not stay in that place because I am completely honest about my preparation. I work hard and am thankful to God that I have got so much from cricket.” I have got something. And when I come out to play, I give my 100 percent.”

Kohli further said, “If you want me to run from boundary to boundary for 40 overs in an ODI match, then I will do it without any complaint, because I prepare accordingly. I am prepared that for 50 overs, I will field every ball as if it is the last ball of my career. I will also bat with the same dedication, run between the wickets with the same dedication and do whatever for the team. I will do whatever is possible.”

I’m not made for this place
Virat Kohli clearly said that even after giving my 100 percent and working so hard, I have to prove my worth and importance, then that place is not made for me and my view in this matter is absolutely clear. I played in Vijay Hazare Trophy because I like playing cricket. I reiterated there also that I like cricket and that is why I was able to enjoy that tournament.”
