Why is CNG more expensive in Mumbai than Delhi?
The price of CNG has increased by Rs 2 in both Delhi and Mumbai. Prices have increased the same at both places, yet why is there such a difference in prices at both places? This question is in everyone’s mind. Actually, the price of CNG in Mumbai is higher than Delhi because Mumbai has to buy more expensive foreign LNG (gas). Tax (VAT) is higher there. The cost of transportation and distribution of gas is also high. Whereas gas supply is relatively cheaper in Delhi, hence the prices are slightly lower here.
Common man will be affected
CNG is used in a large number of autos, taxis and buses in Delhi and Mumbai. Now, due to CNG becoming expensive, auto and taxi fares may increase here. The pressure on bus operators will also increase and the expenses of people traveling daily may also increase. Meanwhile, with the increase in prices, auto unions in Mumbai have also started demanding increase in fares. They are talking about increasing the base fare by Re 1.
