1. MS Dhoni

This trend has been going on for the last several years that at the end of the season, speculations about MS Dhoni’s retirement start. This time Dhoni’s retirement is also in discussion because recently Suresh Raina had asked him a question about his return in IPL 2027. On this Dhoni said that his body has now started becoming weak.

2. Ajinkya Rahane

That was the mega auction of IPL 2026, when no one even bid on Ajinkya Rahane in the first round. Kolkata Knight Riders bought him in the last round. But under his captaincy, KKR has failed to give its best in 2025 and sometimes even in 2026. Yes, Kolkata remains in the race for the playoffs, but it is completely dependent on other teams. As captain, Rahane has hardly been able to win the trust of the team management.

3. Sunil Narine

Before the start of IPL 2026, Andre Russell surprised by retiring from IPL. His compatriot Sunil Narine, 37, has completed 200 wickets this season and it is possible that he can say goodbye to the Indian Premier League with good memories.

4. Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma did not get an opportunity to play even a single match for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026. It is very surprising that from 2020 till now Ishant has played only 28 matches in IPL. Due to lack of opportunities, it is possible that Ishant may put a full stop to his IPL career.

5. Liam Livingstone

The last three IPL seasons have been very bad for Liam Livingstone. Only 238 runs have been scored in 19 matches and only 5 wickets have been taken in bowling during this period. Sunrisers Hyderabad had bid Rs 13 crore on him in the IPL 2026 auction, but he played only 2 matches in the entire season. Despite his poor form, SRH had shown confidence in him, but next season perhaps his poor form will weigh heavily on him. Just like Glenn Maxwell retired from IPL after being released from Punjab Kings, similarly if Hyderabad releases Livingstone then he too can surprise by retirement.
