Before the assembly elections in Punjab next year in 2027, Bharatiya Janata Party has made major changes in the organization. The party has now given the responsibility of the Punjab unit to Kewal Singh Dhillon. He has been MLA from Barnala twice and is recognized as a leader with a developmental image in Punjab politics.
He contested Sangrur Lok Sabha by-election in the year 2022 and Barnala Assembly by-election in 2024 on behalf of Bharatiya Janata Party.
What did BJP say in the official letter?
Kewal Singh Dhillon belongs to an affluent and influential family, which is counted among the big industrialist families of Punjab and the country. He is considered close to former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. The credit for making Barnala a district is largely given to the efforts of Singh Dhillon.
His ancestral village Tallewal is also located in Barnala district.
In this regard, in a letter signed by the party’s national general secretary and headquarters in-charge Arun Singh, in the appointment letter issued by BJP national president Nitin Naveen, it has been said that Kewal Singh Dhillon has been given the responsibility of BJP Punjab state president with immediate effect. A formal announcement was issued.
