Just a day after Royal Challengers Bangalore became the champion, a player of the team got a shock. Actually, Tim David has been banned for one match because he threw an ice bag towards umpire Nitin Menon in the final match. For this he has been banned for one match.
This case pertains to the final match of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans played in Ahmedabad. When a wicket fell during the 10th over of Gujarat’s innings, Tim David aggressively threw an ice bag towards umpire Nitin Menon.
On this incident, IPL issued an official statement on Monday saying that Tim David has been fined 50 percent of the final match fee and has also been given 2 demerit points. David was found guilty of Article 2.9 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which refers to throwing any object in a dangerous manner towards a player, umpire or match official. Tim David has also accepted his mistake.
The match referee has not imposed any ban on Tim David, but this is the third time in IPL 2026 that David has been found guilty of Level 1. Even before this, he had received three demerit points in two matches. Including the points from the final, David got a total of 5 demerit points in the IPL 2026 season. For this reason he has been banned for one match.
For this reason David will not be able to play the first match of IPL 2027. If he plays for RCB or any other team, he will have to sit out of the first match. David scored 305 runs in 16 matches for Bengaluru in IPL 2026.
