The only test match between India and Afghanistan is starting from 6th June. When BCCI announced Team India for this series, Aaqib Nabi’s name was nowhere in it. Aaqib’s performance in domestic cricket was excellent, hence the selectors had to troll him when he was not selected in the Test squad.
BCCI has now taken a big decision in response to trolling. Aaqib Nabi has joined Team India’s camp before the Test match against Afghanistan. Apart from Aaqib, 6 other players have also joined the camp of the Indian cricket team.
According to news agency PTI, a source said that Aaqib Nabi and 6 other players have been called to Team India’s camp. It was told that in view of the heat, the team’s two main fast bowlers Mohammad Siraj and Prasidh Krishna will play three matches within 7 days and will also travel. In such a situation, it will be very difficult for them to get the batsmen to practice in the nets.
As far as Aaqib Nabi is concerned, it is not certain that he will play in the test match but the team management is keeping a close eye on him. Let us tell you that Aaqib Nabi was the highest wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season. He made a big contribution in making Jammu and Kashmir Ranji champion for the first time by taking a total of 60 wickets. Still Gurnoor Brar got a place in Team India.
While announcing Team India’s squad, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar had said about Aaqib Nabi that the last two Ranji seasons of this fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir have been excellent, but considering the Indian conditions, it is not possible to give a chance to many fast bowlers in the Test squad.
