US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that America has ended its campaign of continuous military attacks inside Iran. He has announced that Operation Epic Fury has achieved its objective after months of struggle. Appearing before US lawmakers on Wednesday (June 3), Rubio said that Washington is no longer carrying out continuous attacks aimed at weakening Iran’s military capabilities.
He said that we are no longer carrying out continuous attacks to weaken Iran’s military because the ‘Epic Fury’ campaign has ended. Rubio argued that the campaign had succeeded in destroying large portions of Iran’s defense-industrial base as well as significantly reducing their missile launchers and drone stockpiles.
US-Iran ceasefire fragile
These comments of Marco Rubio have come at a time when despite sporadic violence in the Gulf region, a fragile ceasefire remains in place between America and Iran. In the latest development, an Iranian drone attacked Kuwait’s international airport, damaging a passenger terminal and killing an Indian citizen. Apart from this, dozens of other people have been injured. Due to this attack, the airport had to be closed for some time and concerns increased again about the security of those Gulf countries, which earlier considered themselves away from this conflict.

The US-Iran tension, which has entered its fourth month, has also increased pressure on global energy markets. Iran maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz, a vital sea route for oil and gas exports, while the US has imposed an embargo on Iranian ports.
What did Rubio say about Barack Obama?
Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson said President Donald Trump is working with allies to restore maritime traffic, calling it the last step needed to bring the situation under control. Rubio also tried to assure lawmakers that diplomatic efforts with Tehran are also active.
Referring to the 2015 nuclear deal signed during Barack Obama’s tenure, Rubio said that any future deal will be more stringent. He said that whatever agreement we make will be a tough agreement, or there will be no agreement.
