The four-storey Noorani Mosque located in Malviya Nagar, Jaipur is being razed to the ground today through government bulldozers. Bulldozer action started at around 7 in the morning. During this time the entire area has been transformed into a police camp. In view of the demolition of the mosque as well as four other religious places, internet services have been closed for 24 hours in Jaipur city from midnight.
Along with this, Section 163 of BNS has also been implemented in the entire city. Noorani Masjid was locked after Isha prayers last night. No person associated with the mosque was present during the action this morning. Along with the Mosque Committee, two Congress MLAs have raised questions regarding the bulldozer action and termed it wrong. It has been said that this action is being taken arbitrarily.
Bulldozer action continues due to road widening
A collective prayer was also organized in the Muslim Musafir Khana last evening to save the mosque. Noorani Masjid was constructed 45 years ago in 1981. Due to road widening, other nearby constructions were already demolished. Today, along with Noorani Masjid, bulldozers are also to be used on a tomb, a satsang building and two small temples.
In view of the bulldozer action, about half a kilometer area has been barricaded. There has been an unannounced ban on anyone’s movement here since midnight. The media has also been stopped at one place by placing barricades about 300 meters in advance. The bulldozer action is expected to continue till the evening. However, till now the action is going on peacefully. Due to bulldozer action, flag march of security forces was also conducted at many places in the city yesterday.
Action will be taken against those spreading rumors
This action of bulldozer is being done by Jaipur Development Authority. The authority says that this mosque was built illegally on leased land, while the mosque committee argues that they had purchased the land from the housing society in 1981 and got it constructed. The administration has clearly said that if anyone spreads rumors or tries to create trouble regarding this matter, strict action will be taken against him.
Social media is also being strictly monitored. The administration is also keeping an eye on the surrounding area through drone cameras. Internet services have been closed for 24 hours to stop rumours.
