Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Donald Trump met at the G7 summit held in Evian, France. During the bilateral meeting, Trump praised PM Modi profusely. He described Prime Minister Modi as good looking as an ‘angel’, but in business matters he described him as a ‘strict businessman’. The warmth seen in the meeting between the leaders of the two countries after almost a year is also important because till some time ago Trump had called India a ‘sinking economy’ and a ‘hell-like place’.

The best relationship we have – Trump
Trump said many positive things about the relations between the two countries. He said that we have the best relationship. He said that I do not think that there can be a closer relationship than this between me and Prime Minister Modi or between our two countries. Prime Minister Modi said that cooperation between the two countries has increased significantly since his last visit to America. Last year we had a very successful meeting in Washington. Since then we have given new momentum and new energy to our relationship. Both countries are working together in many areas.
The Prime Minister said that officials of both the countries are also continuously working together to achieve the set targets. Our teams are also constantly communicating and collaborating with each other. This meeting between PM Modi and President Trump has taken place at a time when strategic cooperation in India-US relations is continuously increasing.
