India reiterated its old stand on the reinstatement of the Indus Water Treaty in the United Nations, after which Pakistan is furious. First Pakistan Peoples Party chief Bilawal Bhutto threatened India regarding this and now Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has threatened India with war. Khawaja Asif’s statement has come at a time when Pakistan is facing a huge water crisis.
What did Khawaja Asif say?
Speaking to ARY News on Saturday, Khawaja Asif said, ‘When we feel that our national security is in danger, we will definitely wage war against India. Water is a part of our national security.
He claimed that if Islamabad finds evidence that India is working at an alarming pace to disrupt the water supply, military action will be considered.

Water shortage in Pakistan, blame on India
Khawaja Asif tried to blame New Delhi for water shortage in Pakistan. He accused India of ‘using water as a weapon’, manipulating the flow of the Chenab River and hiding data. However, Khawaja himself admitted that he did not have any current information about the events that took place in the last one year. Let us tell you that after the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, Pakistan and India are facing a crisis. About one-third of the population is affected by severe water crisis, especially in Sindh and Balochistan.
India had suspended the treaty after Pahalgam attack
In April last year, Pakistan had carried out a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, in which 26 tourists lost their lives. After this India suspended the Indus Water Treaty of 1960. Pakistan has appealed to India regarding this matter on many international forums including the United Nations, but India is firm on its stand. New Delhi has clearly said that this treaty will remain suspended until Pakistan takes credible and concrete steps to dismantle the infrastructure of terrorist activities across its border.
