India is making strong efforts to host the 2036 Olympics. A new update has come out on the Olympic Games to be held after 10 years. The International Olympic Association (IOC) confirmed on Wednesday that the host of the 2026 Olympics will be chosen in the year 2029. Let us tell you that a new process has been implemented to select the host of the Olympics.

The decision on the host of the 2036 Olympics will be taken in mid-2029. This decision was taken during the 146th session of the IOC in Lausanne. Kolinda Grabar Kitarovich, Chairman of the IOC’s Future Host Commission, said that a three-stage selection process will now be implemented to choose the host of the future Olympic Games.

The International Olympic Association has approved the strategic negotiation phase, which will play an important role in the selection of the host. It will start from March 2027. Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, a former president of Croatia, said that the countries bidding to host wanted transparency. He also made it clear that the IOC aims to approve the name of the host by mid-2029.

Let us tell you that Los Angeles will host the 2028 Olympic Games and Brisbane, Australia has already got the hosting for 2032. India has been trying for a long time to host the 2036 Olympics.

Under the new process, the round of talks will start with the countries which will be shortlisted for hosting from 2027. To advance to the next stage, potential hosts must complete a ‘Future Host Questionnaire’ and provide a financial guarantee. Candidate countries will have to outline cost control measures and provide clarity and timelines on infrastructure.

India had submitted ‘Letter of Intent’ to host the Olympics in 2024. If India gets to host the 2036 Olympics, then Ahmedabad could be the city where the Olympic Games will be organized.
