What is the whole matter?
This poster going viral has the photo of Nitin Gadkari and it is written on it that petrol pumps across the country are now giving 15 to 20 percent ethanol blended in petrol. Ethanol is soluble in water and due to this, water and moisture in the fuel tank causes problems. To avoid this problem, take care while cleaning the tank and washing the car, otherwise we will not take any responsibility. What is the truth?
PIB has stated in fact check on its official X handle that no such hoarding has been put up at retail petrol outlets. This news and poster is false. PIB also wrote in its post that ethanol-blended petrol is as per BIS standards and ethanol and petrol are completely soluble and no separation or layer is formed in the fuel meeting the prescribed standards.
According to PIB, these modern vehicles are equipped with features and safety measures that prevent water from entering the fuel tank and since the launch of E20 petrol, there have been no cases of engine failure or vehicle damage due to ethanol blending.
