Former Foreign Minister of Pakistan Hina Rabbani Khar made a scathing attack on India at the IWT International Conference held in Islamabad. Hina Rabbani Khar said that India’s attitude is becoming increasingly aggressive. He alleged that India is adopting such a stance regarding the Indus Water Treaty, which may increase tension in the relations between the two countries.

Hina Rabbani Khar’s claim
Hina Rabbani Khar claimed that if India tries to stop or weaken this treaty, it will be a very serious matter. He said that such a step would be considered against the spirit of international rules and agreements. Taking aim at India, he said that any country should behave responsibly on international forums. According to him, creating instability over an important agreement like the Indus Water Treaty is not a good sign for regional peace.

Indus Water Treaty is an important agreement signed between India and Pakistan in 1960. Under this treaty, rules were decided regarding the sharing of water of the Indus River system between the two countries.
