PM Narendra Modi, who is on a three-day tour of Australia, addressed the Indian community in Melbourne on Thursday. During this, he gave a powerful speech in the presence of 30 thousand Indians. He has said many things from Gaganyaan to 5G and from Grow More to Achieve More. During this, the Indian community echoed with slogans of Modi-Modi.
Big points of PM Modi’s speech
- While giving his speech, PM Modi said, ‘I would like to start by thanking the traditional owners of that land. Where we are meeting. I pay my respects to their elders, old and new. This show is housefull. This is a blockbuster.
- He said, ‘Earlier, I had met you all twice in Sydney. I was also looking forward to meeting the people of Melbourne. So this time I thought I would have a flat white coffee with the people of Melbourne. Melbourne has really gained momentum.
- He said, ‘I am also very thankful to my friend and friend of India, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. You were with us in Sydney, and today you have also joined the Indian community here in Melbourne. In a way, things have changed completely. From Ahmedabad, which is home to the world’s largest cricket stadium, to Melbourne, which has its famous stadium. We have been together at both places. We all have seen how the Prime Minister captures the hearts and minds of Indians whenever he speaks. You made a tremendous impact in Sydney, and you have charmed everyone here too.
- He said, ‘When I went to Australia in 2014, it was the first time in 28 years that an Indian Prime Minister had come. And you will remember that I had said then that you will not have to wait for another 28 years. This is my third visit in the last 12 years. This is a hat-trick of tours. This shows what heights the relations between India and Australia have reached. And do you know who had the biggest role in this? This was not Modi’s. It was all of you.
- He said, ‘It is said that in the city of Melbourne one gets a glimpse of all four seasons in a single day. But, the Indian community has made it even more vibrant with its cultural colours. Here in Melbourne and surrounding areas, there are many places and markets which are imbued with the spirit of Indianness. Some call it ‘Little India’, some call it ‘Mini India’; Whatever be the name, they are full of Indian culture.
- PM Modi said, ‘Someone showed me a video of one such market. It was told in the video that the sale continues there continuously. People get completely carried away by the enthusiasm of these sales. Even if someone is not in the mood to shop, he still buys something. People become dizzy due to the sale.
- PM Modi said, many of you must be managing at least two time zones in your homes. Here children return from school according to Australian time, whereas in India grandparents are waiting to connect over video call.
- PM Modi said, ‘It may be a weekend here, yet a live stream of a wedding is going on in India. In other words, even if the physical distance is thousands of kilometers, your daily routine remains deeply connected to India. And along with this routine, you all are contributing with all your might to the development of Australia. I am proud of all of you.
Uranium deal with Australia which does not consider India as nuclear rich! Why is this a big diplomatic victory for PM Modi?
