Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik believes that there may be differences between head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar. He says that due to different priorities, India’s selection decisions may have been affected during the recent T20I tour of UK.

Karthik said, “There is a slight rift between the chief selector and the head coach. I think Agarkar has long-term plans, whereas the current coach says, ‘I want to win every match.’ This is why we are seeing this confusion. Is it right for the players? Absolutely not.”
He also said that having such a large number of players in the Indian team increases the pressure on those players who are trying to cement their place in the team. He further said, “I mean, if you are from India, then imagine how strong a bench strength you have? Everyone thinks that if I have some bad matches then anyone can take my place. On top of that, when such things happen, it definitely becomes a situation that India should be aware of and should fix as soon as possible.”
