Govt on E20 Fuel: Ever since the prices of petrol have increased, E20 fuel has become much discussed. People have protested a lot against the government regarding this fuel. Many people believe that due to this fuel the engine of the vehicle is getting spoiled. After which people also talked to the government about withdrawing this fuel. Now the government itself has made it clear whether it is going to do this or not.
Will the government back down on E20?
The monsoon session of Parliament is going on, in which the government is answering every question of the public on E20 also. Meanwhile, the government has told in the Parliament that it will not back down on E20 petrol, because E20 petrol is completely safe, tested and scientifically certified. Automobile companies are fully cooperating with it and are also giving warranty. Therefore, the government has no intention of re-introducing E0 or E10 petrol.

No complaints were received regarding vehicle damage.
During this time, the government also said that it has not received any complaint about the vehicles getting damaged or their performance deteriorating due to the use of E20 petrol. Not only this, E15+ petrol is being used in the country for the last three and a half years and E19 qJ E20 petrol for the last two and a half years. According to the government, about 20 crore two-wheelers and more than 3 crore petrol cars are running on this fuel without any engine failure. Even today companies are giving warranty to vehicles running on E20.
Government gave orders to oil companies
NITI Aayog’s committee has thoroughly tested this fuel, which clearly shows that it is not having any harmful effect on starting, driving, metal and plastic parts even in old vehicles. After which, under the policy, the government has instructed oil marketing companies to supply up to 20% ethanol blended petrol as per BIS standards across the country.

New rule came into effect from April 1
The government also said that ethanol blended petrol with at least 95 RON (Research Octane Number) has been notified from April 1, 2026, which further improves the quality of the fuel. The purpose of bringing this fuel before the public has been taken keeping in mind the protection of the environment, energy security of the country and the income of the farmers. In such a situation, this fuel will save the country’s money and also make others rich.
