It seems like there is a shower of new players in Team India. Youngsters are getting their debut caps and Ashok Sharma and Yash Thakur got a chance to play their first international match on the Zimbabwe tour. But Ashok and Yash are not the first Indian players to make their T20 International debut in Zimbabwe.
In fact, so far a total of 24 Indian cricketers have made their T20 International debut in Zimbabwe. Legends like Virat Kohli to Ravichandran Ashwin also played the first match of their T20 career in Zimbabwe. After the year 2024, a total of 6 Indian cricketers have made their debut on the Zimbabwe tour, of which Abhishek Sharma is also one. Virat Kohli also played his first T20 International match in Zimbabwe in 2010. Virat had come to bat at number 5 in that match and returned unbeaten after scoring 26 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin also made his debut in T20 in the same match. In that match, Ashwin took one wicket for 22 runs in 4 overs.
Within the last two years, many players in the Indian team have got the debut cap. Among them, Abhishek Sharma, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, Sai Sudarshan, Ashok Sharma and Yash Thakur have played their first T20 International match in Zimbabwe.
