Mohammad Aurangzeb also said that Pakistan can import high quality cotton and soybean from the US, as well as the import of hydrocarbons and other things.
Amid tension with India, on May 10, IMF approved a $ 2.3 billion loan to Pakistan, while India did not attend voting. Out of this $ 2.3 billion loans, $ 1 billion is a loan of $ 7 billion. In the year 2023, the IMF signed an agreement with Pakistan for a loan of $ 7 billion, which is given to it every year as an installment. The remaining $ 1.4 billion loan has been given for Pakistan’s climate resilience facility.
Mohammad Aurangzeb, describing the actions taken with India in the past as short duration escalation, said that it would have a very short impact on the economic situation of the country. On Indus Water Treaty Suspension, the Pak Finance Minister said that it is not going to affect Pakistan immediately and the government does not want to hold any such talks with India, in which the restoration of the treaty is not to be discussed. They believe that the Indus Water Treaty will be restored soon.
