Google has introduced a new AI tool by the name of Synthid Detector which will identify the content generated by AI. However, it is currently in testing phase. The company says that it will also detect and identify the multimodal content created with the help of its AI models. With the help of technology, audio, video, image, text etc. can be identified. Due to which the user will be able to tell from the fire that the content is man -made or AI is made.
The company first introduced Synthid as a technique in 2023 that could add an invisible watermark to the content that is removed or tampered with. In 2024, the company opened the text watermarking technology for businesses and developers. Using special software, this invisible watermark appears. Google is now doing a verification portal testing called Synthid Detector which will quickly allow people to check whether a media is made using AI or not.
In a blog post, Google said that this new portal “brings transparency in the rapidly developing scenario of generative media.” Models like Veo 3 and Imagen 4 AI can generate hyperorialistic images and videos. Due to such advanced AI content generation, the risk of deepfac has also increased significantly.
Google says that this new platform is very easy to use. The user can upload the media in it and the synthid detector scans it and finds out whether there is any synthid watermark or not. After that it shows the result. If a watermark is found in it, it highlights the part of the media that can be ai generated. One thing must be noted here that this tool can only identify the content made by Google AI products.
