iPhone Making Campus: US President Donald Trump recently said that he does not want Apple to expand his iPhone manufacturing in India. But it seems that his statement has no effect on Apple CEO Tim Cook and they are moving forward on their plan. Tim Cook said that most of the selling iPhones in America will be made from India. Now the company has started implementing this expansion rapidly. A big example of this is FoxConn’s Devanhalli plant in Karnataka.
Hostel in 300 acres
The world’s largest electronics manufacturer FoxConn has invested $ 2.56 billion in the Devanhalli plant. For those working here, there is a hostel on 300 acres, which extends to the villages of Dodagollahddy and Chappardahali in Devanhalli Tuluk. It is about 23 km from Kemp Gowda International Airport in Bengaluru.
Foxconn has invested Rs 3000 crore in the first phase (2023-24) and plans to invest the same amount during the second phase (2026-27). Also, by December this year, the manufacturing target of iPhone has been done to 1,00,000.
Women priority in hostels
This hostel being built by the company will have a capacity of about 30,000 staff, which will be the first such facility center in India. The source aware of the whole matter told the ECCOMIC Times that the construction of this hostel is expected to be completed by the end of this year. It is believed that this will be the second largest hostel in the world after China. Similarly, a hostel has also been built in Sriperumbdur, Tamil Nadu on the model of China, where about 18 thousand karmachari can remain.
This hostel of Devanhalli will have about 50 to 80 percent of the women, who will be given an FIR in the residence. These projects are part of the strategy of China +1 of Elephant FoxConn, whose purpose is to diversity in production outside the country.
