Kia suv sunshade challan: Nowadays it has become a common practice to install Sunshade on the windows of the car. Not only this, now many automobile companies are offering Sunshade as a default feature in their vehicles, including premium brands like KIA, but a recent case in Chandigarh has raised many questions about this facility.
What is the matter?
In fact, a video is going viral on social media, in which a car owner was stopped by the police due to the fitted sunshade on the rear view mirror and side window of his Kia car. The car owner said that it has been permanently installed by the Sunshade Company and it is not possible to remove it. Despite this, the Chandigarh Police cut off his challan citing traffic rules. This incident has created a lot of confusion among the common people about the rules.
What does the law say?
In the year 2012, the Supreme Court gave an important verdict, saying that any Sunshade or tint on the window or mirror of any car in India if VLT (Visible Light Transmission) violates the rules, (whether it is attached or later), then it will be considered illegal,
Are the company fitted Sunshade valid or not?
Nowadays, many companies like Kia, Hyundai, Toyota are providing factory fitted sunshheds or glass tints in their vehicles. However, if these sheds installed by the company were not in accordance with the VLT standards, then they will also be considered illegal. This means that the challan may be cut even if the Sunshhed company has been installed by the Sunshade company.
Why is there trouble in such a situation?
Local traffic police often strictly enforce the rules, but not every policeman has the equipment (meter) for VLT measurement. Because of this, it happens many times that despite the company being fitted in the car, the police cut the challan, due to which ordinary citizens have to face unnecessary trouble and confusion.
What to do if you have a sunshde in your car?
If your car has a sunshide installed by the company and the traffic police stops you, then you should always keep the car bill and warranty document, which has been proved that the factory has been fitted by the Sunshad Company. If possible, keep the VLT certificate with you and show the traffic police when needed. If you feel that your challan has been done incorrectly, then you can file a complaint in the local traffic department or court.
