Tahawwur Rana Mumbai Attack: After bringing one of the faces behind the terrorist attacks on Mumbai in 2008, Tawwur Rana, he has now made many shocking revelations in the interrogation. Rana, who has been active between the US, Canada and Pakistan for a long time, has given detailed information about his background not only his background, but also his relations related to David Headley and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
During interrogation, Tahwwur said, I am originally from Chichavatni in Punjab province of Pakistan. My late father, Rana Valli Mohammed, B.A. He was a graduate and native to Nawanshahar, Jalandhar in the state of Punjab, India. After the partition of India and the creation of Pakistan, he decided to settle with his family in Chichawatni village in Sahiwal district of Punjab province of Pakistan.
Where did Tahavvur study from?
My late mother, Mubarak Begum, completed 96 years of her life, of which she spent many years with my children and wife in Canada. From 1974 to 1979, I studied at Hasan Abdal, Cadet College, Punjab, Pakistan. There, a student named David was particularly memorable in my classmates there. His color was fair and his eyes were of different colors, this difference impressed me a lot.
David Urdu used to speak very well, although he had Punjabi accent. Later I came to know that her mother, Seril, was a American citizen and her father was a Pakistani. Seril’s father was Air Commodore in the United States Air Force. Due to family problems and harassment by especially the stepmother, David decided to leave Pakistan and go to America to live with his biological mother.
How did David Headley get acquainted?
In 1979, when Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was hanged, I moved to America without telling my parents, although I had an official visa. My aim was to take medical education at the famous Haniman University Hospital in Philadelphia. But the tuition fee there was about $ 6000, which I could not raise, due to which I had to return to Pakistan. After that, I applied to the medical program of Pakistan Army. I passed the entrance exam and got selected. From 1981 to 1986, I received training as a cadet at Army Medical College, Rawalpindi. In 1986, I completed MBBS and was appointed to the Medical Corps as Captain in the Pakistan Army.
My first appointment was from 1986 to 1987 as a medical officer in the Quetta region of Pakistan. Then between 1987 and 1988 I was posted in rural areas of Sindh and Balochistan. From 1988 to 1989, I was stationed with Desert Rangers in Bahawalpur.
Tahwvur went to Saudi Arabia in 1989
In 1989 I was sent to Saudi Arabia on deputation, where I served with the fourth brigade of the Saudi Armed Forces. On returning to Pakistan in 1992, I was posted in Siachen and Baltoro sector of Baltistan region. Due to the difficult conditions and low oxygen levels there, I got pulmonary and cerebral edema.
After health benefits in 1993, I took a holiday from the army and moved to Germany, where I went to England after staying for three months. Meanwhile, I was declared a deserter by the Pakistan Army. After living in England for about eleven months, I moved to America in 1994.
Practice was allowed in America
In the US, I gave the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) and passed in 1997, allowing me to practice medical practice there. The same year, I moved to Ottawa, Canada and applied for citizenship. In the year 2000, I got Canadian citizenship and I decided to settle there permanently.
In 2000, I applied for the Investor Visa for the US and went to America for business objectives. After receiving the visa, I installed a meat processing plant in Kings, Illinoy. Also, started a grocery store in Chicago and leased a building for a medical clinic.
It is noteworthy that during my deployment in Saudi Arabia, I had saved a good amount, so that my investment in America was possible. My wife, Samraj Rana, is a gynecologist who has passed the USMLE and is currently a doctor registered in Canada.
What did Tehwwur tell about David?
When I was asked in which languages David is proficient, I told that he can speak Punjabi, Urdu, English, Hindi, Persian, Pashto and Arabic languages fluently. In 2005, Devid told me that in the year 2003-2004, he did three courses related to Lashkar-e-Taiba. The names of some courses were ‘mango’ and ‘special’, the name of the third is no longer remembered. He also told that he had married many women.
In America, he was living in Philadelphia. Once when I contacted him, he was in a very bad condition and he told that he had fallen into drug addiction.
I was arrested on 18.10.2009 in the case of an attack on Denmark newspaper and perhaps David was arrested in the same case on 04.10.2009 before me. I know that the FBI was recording the statement of David for the next 10 to 14 days.
When I was asked about the Immigrant Law Center, I said that along with the meat processing and grocery business, I started a center that helped people to get visas of different countries.
The idea of this immigrant law center was of David Morris, which was already in this business. We started a branch of it in Chicago, USA, where Raymond J. Sanders was appointed as a lawyer.
David Morris handled this center in Ottawa, Canada and Arif, a Pakistani citizen in Australia, saw it. In India, this responsibility was given to Syed Sajjad, who was from Hyderabad and had previously lived in Chicago.
How was Tehwavur Rana associated with Lashkar?
Headley and I are childhood friends. Both of us studied in Cadet Hasan Abdal Military College, Punjab Sahib, Pakistan from 8th to 12th from 1974 to 1979. When asked about Headley’s association with Lashkar-e-Taiba, I told that Headley had said that (possibly in 2001 or 2004), he had trained three phases of Lashkar in Pakistan. When he was asked to accept the ideology of DK Lashkar, I told that he had trained, but tried to mislead by saying that Lashkar members are actually not a follower of ideology, but a detective.
When asked about the idea of opening the immigration center in Mumbai, I clearly said that it was my idea, not of Headley. I said that my manager Mahrukh Bharucha is handling my branch in Mumbai, not Headley.
When Headley 1 was asked about giving money through money transfer service, I said that this money was given by the First Immigration Center.
I told about the trade of this center in Mumbai that we had tried but due to the place there were problems. I completed my MBBS degree from 1981 to 1986 from Army Medical College, Rawalpindi. After this, the Pakistan Army joined Quetta as Captain Doctor. I served in the rural areas of Sindh-Baluchistan, the desert range of Bahawalpur, Siachen-Baltoro sector. Later I was sent to Saudi Arabia for special work after Iraq’s attack on Kuwait.
When asked why I got desert from the Pakistan Army, I told that during my posting in Siachen, I had a pulmonary edema, and I was absent from duty.
In 1993, I traveled in Germany for studies and then went to England. Went to America in July 1994 and passed USMLE in 1997. After this, between 1997 and 2000 I got Canadian citizenship and I started living in Ottawa.
In 2000 I received an American investor visa and started a meat processing plant in Kings, Illinois. Also started real estate and grocery business in Chicago. My wife is from Bahawalpur, Pakistan. He is a doctor and he has also passed USMLE. She is currently living in Canada. When I was asked about Abdul Rahman Pasha, Sajid Mir, Major Iqbal, I told that I know them because they are from Pakistan.
Who was involved in Mumbai attacks?
I know Major Iqbal was arrested in the tribal region of Pakistan. I met Abdul Rahman Pasha by Headley. When asked about Rajaram Rege, which David had mentioned, I told that he was asking for bribe, but for what work, it did not tell. When asked about Major Iqbal’s email ID to be sent, I did not give any reason and tried to mislead. When asked about giving wrong information in the visa form deposited by Headley in the US Embassy, I said that the mistake was of the embassy, they should have investigated.
Revelations about Hafiz Saeed
When Headley was asked about giving me information about the places of landing in Mumbai, I denied it. When asked about the meeting with Hafiz Saeed, I said that I never met him, but I know that Lashkar-e-Taiba, Harkat-ul-Jihad, and Jaish-e-Mohammed are terrorist organizations of Pakistan. When asked about Bashir Sheikh of India, I told that he had met me in Canada and helped him to find a place for Headley to live in Mumbai.
