Electric vehicle (EV) sector giant Tesla has announced its official entry into the Indian market. The company inaugurated its first showroom at Maxity Mall in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has reacted to Tesla’s first step in India from Maharashtra. He said, “Today it is a matter of great pleasure for all of us that Tesla has started her in India from Mumbai.”

Devendra Fadnavis said that Tesla’s Experience Center, delivery network, logistics and servicing facilities are being started in Maharashtra at the same time. He also said, “I am proud that Tesla has chosen Maharashtra and Mumbai for his admission. Today Maharashtra has become a leader in the field of electric vehicles and I am confident that Tesla’s entire eco-system will develop in Maharashtra in the coming days.”

Earlier on Friday, Tesla shared a graphic writing “Coming Soon” on his Indo-Centenary X (East Twitter) handle, indicating that the company was going to knock in India in July 2025. After this, now the company has officially started its first Indian showroom, which will make Tesla cars more accessible to Indian customers than before.

What will be the price of Tesla cars?

Tesla has also revealed the prices of its popular Model Y car. Its on-road price in India will start from Rs 61 lakh. The rear-wheel drive variant will cost Rs 59.89 lakh, while the price of long range rear-wheel drive version has been fixed at Rs 67.89 lakh. With these prices, Tesla is now ready to make its place in India’s premium electric vehicle market.
