Targeting the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the President of the Madhya Pradesh unit of the Congress, Jeetu Patwari said on Tuesday that the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar from the post of Vice President is the hallmark of the threat hovering over the constitution of the country.
He claimed that in the coming days, BJP leaders will have to suffer the fruits of this danger.
Patwari told reporters here, “It is a great furore with the dignity of this position to resign in a hurry of a person in a big constitutional post like Vice President. This step of Dhankhar is a hallmark of danger hovering over the constitution.
He said that Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has been warning the country for the last several days that democracy and constitutional institutions are in danger along with the Constitution.
The state Congress president said, “At present, Dhankar has to suffer the fruit of this danger and in the coming time, BJP leaders and the country will also have to suffer.”
Patwari reached Indore after attending the two -day ‘Nav Sankalp Camp’ of Congress at Mandu, a famous tourist destination of Dhar district.
He said that in the presence of senior Congress leaders during the camp, the party organization took a pledge that on the lines of Telangana, there will be a fight for caste census in Madhya Pradesh.
Patwari alleged that the BJP government of Madhya Pradesh is constantly trying to prevent the implementation of the system of providing 27 percent reservation to the other backward classes (OBCs) in the state’s educational institutions and government employment.
He said, “The previous Congress government headed by Kamal Nath in the state (in 2019) had increased the reservation of OBC from 14 percent to 27 percent, but the BJP government has tried all the legal bets to stop the decision and has paid a fee of more than Rs 50 crore to the big lawyers for the courts.”
