The Government of India has announced the issuance of tourist visas to Chinese citizens after a long gap of five years. This process will be resumed from 24 July 2025. Significantly, in March 2020, India temporarily suspended all tourist visas to prevent infection during the Kovid-19 epidemic. Since then, visa service for Chinese citizens was closed.

The embassy also clarified that a duly ‘passport withdrawal letter’ would be mandatory on applying for a passport withdrawal at the Indian Visa Center in Beijing. After the violent clashes between the Kovid-19 epidemic and the India-China in June 2020, the trips and mutual contacts between the two countries were almost stalled. Over the years, China started giving visas to Indian students and traders, but restrictions remained on common journey.
