Why was the alliance broken between Akali and BJP?
- In the year 2020, the Shiromani Akali Dal opted out of the BJP -led coalition NDA.
- Akali and BJP’s paths were separated on the issue of agriculture law.
- The Akali Dal opposed the Center over three agricultural laws
- Later, the central government withdrew three agricultural laws.
Assembly elections in 2027 in Punjab
Assembly elections are to be held in 2027 in Punjab. Earlier, BJP has already started preparations to strengthen the political land of the state. In Punjab, there is a discussion about an alliance between BJP and Akali. Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar had discussed the alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). However, later state executive president Ashwani Sharma claimed that BJP will field alone in all 117 seats.
