Hardik Pandya has been out of the Indian Test team for the last about seven years. He last played the Test match against England in the year 2018. Hardik made it to the Test team with a great all -round performance in his ODI and T20 format. He was also doing well in Tests for India. But after the waist injury, he was out of the Test team. After this, he did not return to the team.
Pandya himself is keeping distance from Test due to waist injury
Pandya’s back problem is one of those reasons, due to which he is not playing Test cricket. Talking to Cricbuzz in 2020, Pandya had told that playing Test cricket could threaten his back.
He said, “I consider myself a backup fast bowler. After my back surgery, playing Test cricket is a challenge. If I were just a Test player and I had not been a career in white ball cricket, then I could go to the Test and put my back at risk, but I know how important I am in white ball cricket.”
In 2021, Pandya returned to the Test team, but did not get a chance to play in the domestic series against England. In the first phase of IPL 2021, he did not bow down a single ball, which led to questions about his fitness again. For this reason, he was not included in the team for the 2021 World Test Championship Final and then the England Test series.
Pandya’s test career
Pandya made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in the year 2017. During this, he played a total of 11 Test matches. During this, Pandya scored 532 runs at an average of around 32. Hardik also scored four half -centuries and a century. Apart from this, Pandya also performed brilliantly in bowling. Pandya took 17 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 31.05.
