A big change has come out in the country’s politics. The NDA has declared Maharashtra Governor and senior BJP leader CP Radhakrishnan as the Vice Presidential candidate. His name was announced by BJP President JP Nadda. In fact, the current Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar suddenly resigned due to health reasons, after which the post became vacant. Now CP Radhakrishnan will be the candidate of NDA in the election to be held on 9 September.

CP Radhakrishnan’s full name is Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan. He was born on 20 October 1957 in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu. His father’s name is CK Ponusamy and mother’s name. Was Janaki After leaving this small place in Tamil Nadu, he achieved a big place in politics and social service.

Graduation in Business Administration

Radhakrishnan studied V.O. of Tamil Nadu. From Chidambaram College, Roathukudi. He received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA) from here. During his studies, he was not only a student, but also performed brilliantly in the playground.

He was the champion of table tennis during college days. At the same time, he was also deeply interested in cricket, volleyball and long distance race. That is, his balance was always excellent in both education and sports.

Initial steps in RSS and politics

CP Radhakrishnan was inclined towards politics and social service from a very young age. At the age of just 17, he started connecting with organizations like Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Jana Sangh.

In 1974, he became a member of the State Executive Committee of Bharatiya Jana Sangh. It is from here that the foundation of his active politics was laid.

Political career

CP Radhakrishnan’s political journey continued to move forward. He was a twice Lok Sabha MP. From 2004 to 2007, he worked as the state president of the BJP Tamil Nadu unit. In February 2023, he was made the Governor of Jharkhand, where he served till July 2024. After this, on 31 July 2024, he was sworn in as the Governor of Maharashtra. While working as the Governor, he carried forward many programs related to education, agriculture and rural development.

Apart from politics, the life of CP Radhakrishnan is very simple. His attachment to the game remains intact even today. Radhakrishnan, the table tennis champion and athlete of college days, still likes to play cricket and volleyball. Not only this, his life has been full of discipline and sportsmanship, which gives him a different identity from other leaders.

Vice Presidential election process

According to the Election Commission, the Vice Presidential election will be held on 9 September 2025. The last date for filing nominations is 21 August. The investigation of the residents will be on August 22. Candidates can withdraw the name by 25 August. This will be followed by voting and counting on 9 September. In such a situation, if everything goes on according to the plan, then the country will get the new Vice President CP Radhakrishnan.
