Thousands of figures of batsmen and bowlers are seen in the cricket world, which is easily confident. But sometimes there are some figures that surprise sports lovers. One such record has been created by Australian bowler Nathan Lyon in Test cricket. He has bowled more than 34,500 balls in his Test career so far, but surprisingly, he has not thrown a single no ball till date. This figure is surprising, but it is true.
139 Test career, no ball thrown yet
Lyon’s test career is an example of discipline. He made his debut in the Galle Test against Sri Lanka in 2011. Since then, he has played 139 Test matches and has taken a total of 562 wickets. His bowling average has been 30.14, which is very good for any spin bowler.
Lyon’s biggest quality is his control in bowling. While fast bowlers or other spinners sometimes make a no ball by mistake, Lyon has made a different identity by not throwing a single no ball. In the long format of cricket, bowling continuously is a very tired task, but Lyon has always kept his steps and action under control.
Lion is Australia’s third most successful bowler
Lyon has taken 562 wickets in his Test career. Lyon has been the hero of Australia’s many historic Test victory. He is the third highest wicket -taking bowler for Australia. Lyon is just two wickets away from Australia’s second highest wicket -taking bowler. Currently, with 563 wickets, the number two veteran fast bowler is Glenn McGrah. Lyon will soon reach second place in this list.
