The police has intensified the investigation in the recent attack on Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. On Sunday, the police arrested another person in this case. Officials say that the arrested accused is a friend of the main accused Sakariya Rajeshbhai Khimji.
The friend of the accused was brought from Gujarat
Delhi Police said that Tahsin Syed, a friend of the main accused Khimji, was brought to Delhi from Rajkot (Gujarat) on Friday night. The police first questioned him and then he was also seated in front of Khimji to confirm the facts. After interrogation, Tehsin was taken into custody on Sunday.

Money and video were transacted
Investigation has revealed that Khimji had sent a video of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s house in Shalimar Bagh to Tehsin. Instead, Tehsin gave him Rs 2,000.
Police say that both were in constant touch just before the attack on the Chief Minister. On Wednesday, when Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was holding a ‘public hearing’ at the camp office in her Civil Lines, she was attacked.
Khimji has a criminal record
Police investigation has revealed that auto rickshaw driver Sakaria Khimji has already registered several criminal cases. Between 2017 and 2024, five cases like assault and alcohol are registered at Bhaktinagar police station in Rajkot.
Not only this, preventive action has also been taken on Khimji several times. It is alleged that he was also associated with smuggling liquor.
Delhi Police is now interrogating more than 10 people including Khimji’s friends and family members in Rajkot in this case. At present, Khimji has been sent by the court on 5 days police remand. The police is hoping that more important information will be handed over during the remand.
In the police interrogation, Khimji has told that he had gone to raise the issue of stray dogs in the Chief Minister’s ‘Public Hearing’ program. He says that he did not attack for any other purpose. However, the police do not trust his words and investigation is being done that what was the real reason behind it.
Demonstration against Supreme Court’s decision
According to Rajkot police, Khimji came to Delhi from Ujjain on 19 August. He arrived here to attend the protest against stray dogs against the recent decision of the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, he reached the public hearing program of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and created a ruckus and attacked him.
At present, Delhi Police is investigating the details of the conversation between Tehsin Syed and Khimji. The police is also trying to find out what was the real intention behind the transaction of Rs 2,000 and sharing the video. Investigation agencies are not ready to consider this case as just a “personal anger”.
