Balwinder Kaur, mother of Amritpal Singh, MP from Khadur Sahib area of Punjab, handed over a demand letter to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office of Amritsar to demand her release. A letter written regarding the release of Amritpal has been sent to the Governor of Punjab.
The letter said that Amritpal Singh has been lodged in Dibrugarh Jail in Assam under the National Security Act (NSA) for the last nine months, while the Khadur Sahib area is badly affected by floods.

Talking to reporters, Maa Balwinder Kaur said, “People need their MP in the difficult situation of floods. There is an appeal to the government to release Amritpal Singh for at least 5 to 10 days so that they can help the flood victims by staying among their area.”
Balwinder Kaur said that due to floods, the DC of Amritsar could not meet, but his staff had received the demand letter. He hoped that this letter would reach the high officials.

He also said that the MP fund of Amritpal Singh has not been released yet, which needs to be released immediately so that the flood affected people can be assisted.
Floods in Khadur Sahib have caused heavy havoc. Crops have been ruined in many villages and people have become homeless. Balwinder Kaur said that the presence of MP will not only speed up relief work, but will also increase the morale of the people. He demanded quick action from the government.
The administration has assured to consider the demand letter, but no concrete reply has been received yet. Relief work is going on in flood affected areas.
