It is considered to be the most terrible flood in the state since 1988. Relief and rescue work is going on at a war footing, while cooperation is coming from various institutions to help more than 3.55 lakh people stranded in 1,655 villages.

Alerts and closed educational institutions in affected districts

Due to heavy rains, the administration has issued an alert in Rupnagar and Patiala districts. People have been advised to stay safe in homes and be cautious. At the same time, in view of the situation, all schools, colleges and universities of the state have been closed by 7 September.

The ongoing rains in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir have made the water level of Sutlej, Beas and Ravi rivers more dangerous. The boom of these rivers and seasonal drains has submerged the towns and villages, due to which the common life has completely disturbed.
