After a long wait of about six months, Virat Kohli is ready to take the field again in the blue jersey of the Indian team. The ODI series against England starting from July 14 could not only be his comeback but also the beginning of many big records being made and broken.
Kohli remained away from the field after playing the last ODI against New Zealand in January. Due to injury, he could not even play the ODI series against Afghanistan. Now his entire preparation rests on his comeback against England. Kohli, who has said goodbye to Test and T20 international cricket, is now focusing only on ODI cricket and next year’s World Cup.

In this series, the biggest focus will be on his figure of 15000 ODI runs. Kohli currently has 14797 runs in his name in 299 innings of 311 matches. To reach this special milestone, he needs only 203 runs. If he achieves this figure in the England series, he will become the second batsman in the world and India to score 15000 runs in ODI history.
The first ODI against England will bring another special opportunity for Kohli. As soon as he comes out to bat, he will play the 300th innings of his ODI career. Staying fit and performing brilliantly for such a long time and remaining a reliable batsman of the team is considered a big achievement in itself.
Kohli has a chance to make another historical record in his name. Sachin Tendulkar played 359 innings to complete 15000 ODI runs. Virat has played 299 innings so far. In such a situation, if he scores 203 runs in this series, he will become the fastest batsman to score 15000 ODI runs.
Kohli’s consistency in ODI cricket makes him different from other players. His batting average is 58.71 and strike rate remains above 90. Till now he has scored 54 centuries and 77 half-centuries. His highest score is 183 runs.
Virat Kohli, who entered international cricket in 2008, has included himself among the most successful batsmen in the world in the last 18 years. Despite captaincy, pressure and bad times, he has created his own identity by scoring runs continuously.
This series against England is not just a comeback but an opportunity to write history. If Virat’s bat works, the cricket world will see another such record, which will be remembered for many years to come.
