Vietnam’s company Vinfast has launched its most affordable electric SUV Vinfast VF6, stepping into the Indian market. This mid-size comes in the electric SUV segment and is directly competing with trains like Tata Curvv Ev, Mahindra Be 6 and Hyundai Creta Electric. VF6 has been introduced by the company in three variants-Earth, Wind and Wind Infinity. Its initial price is 16.49 lakh (ex-showroom), while the price of the top model goes up to 18.29 lakhs.

Design and styling

  • The VF6 is designed by youth-centric and modern, which is designed by Italian Studio Torino Design. This is a coupe-style SUV, which is 4.2 meters in length and wheelbase 2.73 meters. Closed-off grille, vertical LED headlights and sleek drls make it attractive. Sloping roofline, short overhang and body cladding in side profiles give a muscular look. The cabin has a minimalistic and futuristic layout. Black theme in Earth variants, while Mocke brown interior in wind and infinity. Features like Vegan leather seats, soft-touch dashboard and heated/ventilated front seats make it more special.

Battery, range and performance

  • The VF6 has a 59.6 kwh lithium-ion battery pack, which is connected to a single front-wheel-drive motor. The base variant gives 177 hp and 250 Nm torque, while high variants provide power up to 204 HP and 310 Nm. The company claims that the VF6 gives a range of 468–480 km on the WLTP bicycle, while according to ARAI it can run up to 463 km. It takes only 8.9 seconds to catch a speed of 0 to 100 kmph. For charging, it has an option of 11 kw AC home charger (full charge in 6-7 hours) and 80 kw DC fast charger (10-80%in 30 minutes). The special thing is that the company is giving 10 years/unlimited kilometers warranty on the battery.

Features and Technology

  • Vinfast VF6 does not lack high-tech features. It has 12.9-inch freestanding touchscreen, head-up display, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and OTA updates. Earth variants have features like auto LED headlights, electric driver seat and glass roof. Dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting and premium sound systems have been added to the Wind variant. At the same time, panoramic sunroof extra is available in Infinity variants. Features like voice control and remote management are also available with the help of connected car technology.

Safety package

  • VF6 is also strong in terms of security. All variants have 7 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, Hill Hold Assist and 360-degree camera standard. Apart from this, it also has Level-2 Adas, which includes facilities like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking and traffic jam assist.

Color Options and Rivals

  • Vinfast VF6 has been launched in a total of 6 color options – Crimson Red, Desat Silver, Infinity Blanc, Jet Black, Urban Mint and Jenith Gray. In the Indian market, it will compete directly with SUVs like Tata Curvv Ev, Mg ZS EV and Hyundai Creta Electric. Talking about the price and features, VF6 can prove to be an attractive and affordable option in this segment.
