Tanuja Mukherjee is only known as Tanuja in Hindi cinema. At one time, he mesmerized the audience with his attractive smile and acting.
Born on 23 September 1943 in a Marathi Brahmin family in Mumbai, Tanuja gave Bollywood a new dimension with dear characters. His laughter, which resonated on the screen and his deep eyes, which told stories, still settled in the minds of cinema lovers.
Tanuja chose her own path
Tanuja was born in a family which was synonymous with Indian cinema. His mother, Shobhana Samarth, and elder sister, Nutan, both were veteran actresses of their time. Grandma Ratan Bai and Mausi Nalini Jaywant were also an Estabish name in the cinema world. In such a situation, Tanuja’s interest in films was natural, but he made a different identity for himself. From childhood, Ribelius nature and free thinking mistress Tanuja chose her own way.

Tanuja entered the industry as a child artist
At the age of just seven, Tanuja stepped as a child artist in ‘Hamari Beti’ in 1950. But the real start in 1960 with ‘Chhabili’, directed by mother Shobhana Samarth. After this, his pair with Dev Anand made a splash in ‘Jewel Thef’. Her spontaneity and screen presence included her among the most favorite actresses of the 60s and 70s. Whether his romantic chemistry with Rajesh Khanna in ‘Dost’ or his emotional depth in ‘Holy Papi’ (1970), Tanuja made every character alive.
Tanuja and Devanand’s friendly
Tanuja’s friendship was very deep with Devanand. An anecdote of their friendship is quite famous, which reflects the depth of their friendship and Tanuja’s Ribbery Nature, which forced a superstar to laugh. Tanuja told about this in one of her interviews.
This story is of the days of shooting of director Vijay Anand’s famous film ‘Guide’. The film’s hero Dev Anand was very worried about his sister at that time, whose health was not well. His concern was so deep that he was often lost during the shooting. Everyone understood their problems, but no one dared to talk to them directly.

Meanwhile, Tanuja saw him upset. She went to her without any hesitation. While the rest of the people used to talk to him with respect, Tanuja talked to his friend in a completely different style. Tanuja said to Dev Anand- ‘Why do you just think about your sister? Live your life and be happy. Dev Anand, who was very upset about his sister, was surprised by this style of Tanuja. He kept quiet for a moment and then he hugged Tanuja. He said- ‘You are a wonderful person.’
In this scolding, he saw the true love and care of a friend. While sharing this story, Tanuja had told that Dev Anand was such a friend for him whom she could say anything without thinking. This story of Tanuja reflects his spontaneity and his cool nature.
