OMG! Ravichandran Ashwin not sold in auction, willn’t the dream of playing in the foreign league be fulfilled?

India’s legendary spin bowler Ravichandran Ashwin has been unsold in the auction. The auction of the ILT20 league was held in Dubai today, in which Ashwin’s base price was one lakh 20 thousand dollars, which is equal to about 1 crore rupees in Indian currency. Given Ashwin’s records and figures, his auction was a shocking subject.

Ashwin had registered for the ALT20 League auction after taking retirement from international cricket and IPL a few months ago. His registration was very much discussed. Ashwin played a total of 221 matches for 5 different teams in his Indian Premier League career, in which he took 187 wickets as a bowler. At the same time, he has 833 runs in batting.

In the last auction of IPL, he was bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 9.75 crore. In the 2025 season, he was able to take only 7 wickets in 9 matches. Well, Ashwin may have been unsold in the LT20 auction, but in the meantime he has signed the deal for the next season of Big Bash League. Ashwin will play for Sydney Thunder in the next season of BBL starting on 14 December.

Ashwin will become the first male cricketer who has played in BBL as soon as he plays the first match for Sydney Thunder.

Ashwin himself had told, “The management of Sydney Thunder was very clear about how he would work with me in the team. My talks with the officials were very good and both sides agreed to the role in my team. I am desperate to perform well for the Thunder team.”
