World Para Athletics Championships 2025: A shocking incident came to light on Friday (October 3) during the ongoing World Para Athletics Championship 2025 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. Some stray dogs entered inside the stadium attacked the coaches of Japan and Kenya, which caused chaos in the entire campus. Both the coaches were immediately rushed to the hospital, where they were treated and anti-rebound injections.
How did this incident happen?
According to the information, around 9 am when the players and coaches were preparing for their respective session, two stray dogs entered the stadium premises. Kenya coach Dennis Marajia was at that time talking to his player near the call room. Suddenly the dog from behind bitten his leg. Blood started coming out and the staff around immediately took them out.
A few minutes later, Japan’s female coach Meico Okumatsu also became a victim of a similar incident. She was monitoring the players on the practice track, when another dog came to him and bitten him. Both incidents took place within half an hour, causing fear and resentment among foreign teams.
The organizers clarified
After this incident, the organizing committee of the World Para Athletics Championships immediately reacted. He said that both the coaches were immediately rushed to Safdarjung Hospital, where after first aid they returned to their hotel safely. According to the organizers, the security system is being reviewed and now two dog catching teams have been deployed permanently in the stadium.
The committee also informed that on 21 August 2025 itself, a letter was written to the Municipal Corporation (MCD) asking to remove the dogs from the stadium premises. At that time the campus was also evacuated, but the dogs entered again in search of food. Now the area has been re -confused and security has been increased.
Increasing problem of stray dogs in Delhi
This is not the first incident when the terror of stray dogs has come to light in the national capital. The Supreme Court has given strict instructions on this issue, but the situation has not improved still. During the international event, such incidents not only raise questions on the security system, but also damage India’s global image.
