Selectors and coach also gave clarification
Amidst these discussions, BCCI Selection Committee head Ajit Agarkar has also clarified the situation. He said that both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been selected in the team keeping the 2027 World Cup in mind. Agarkar said, “As far as I know, both the players have passed their fitness tests and are completely fit. In such a situation, it is too early to talk about retirement.”
Agarkar also said that both Virat and Rohit are important for Team India and their experience will be needed in future big series also.
After Team India’s victory against West Indies in the Test, head coach Gautam Gambhir also expressed his opinion on this issue. He said that it is important for the players to focus on the present instead of the future. Gambhir said, “The 50-over World Cup is still two and a half years away. We should focus on our performance this time. Both Virat and Rohit are experienced players and their experience in Australia will be very useful for the team.”
This tour of Virat is also important for Team India. India’s clash against Australia has always been exciting, and this time the team aims to strengthen its preparations for the 2027 World Cup by winning the series.
