According to the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA), this year this figure has reached a record level. The number of Indian citizens deported from Canada till July 28 this year was 1,891, whereas in the year 2019 this number was only 625.

India is second in the list of deportation of people from other countries from Canada. By July 28, 2025, 2,678 Mexicans had been forcibly expelled from Canada. In the year 2024, 1,997 Indians were forcibly expelled by the Canadian authorities. Last year, 3,683 Mexicans and 981 Colombians were deported from Canada.
Why are Indians being forcibly expelled from Canada?
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney was asked whether his government would focus on deporting foreign criminals back to their country. He answered this question in the affirmative. He said there are plans to improve tracking with better resources to speed up the process. He said that this initiative is part of the reforms that we are making in the immigration system in Canada.
Recently 8 Indians were arrested
Amidst the increasing anti-immigration sentiment in Canada, the process of expelling people from other countries has started. Recently in Canada, 8 people were arrested for alleged theft of 450 pieces of mail. Those arrested were identified as Sumanpreet Singh, Gurdeep Chattha, Jashandeep Jattana, Harman Singh, Jasanpreet Singh, Manroop Singh, Rajbir Singh and Upinderjeet Singh.
In this regard, Peel Regional Police issued a press release on October 10, 2025, saying that they are actively engaged with the Peel Crown Attorney’s Office and the Canada Border Services Agency, which will determine whether the case of removal of accused foreign nationals from Canada can be proceeded with as part of the judicial process.
